Eartheye Space & SAINS Formalise Collaboration to Strengthen Earth Observation Capabilities in Sarawak
The MoU was exchanged between Mr. Busiai bin Seman, Chief Executive Officer of SAINS, and the representative from Eartheye Space Technologies Pte. Ltd., in the esteem presence of the Premier of Sarawak, YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg; during the launching ceremony of the Asia Pacific Aerospace Conference and Exhibition (APACE) 2026 in Sarawak.
The collaboration establishes a framework for joint efforts in satellite imagery processing and analysis, with a strong focus on Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), optical, and hyperspectral data. Together, Eartheye Space and SAINS aim to develop and implement pilot projects that support practical, operational applications across sectors such as infrastructure development, environmental monitoring, disaster management, urban planning, and resource management; enabling better planning and more informed decision-making.
Reflecting on the partnership, Shankar Sivapraksan, Founder & CEO of Eartheye Space said “Our journey with SAINS began at IAC 2025 in Sydney and has since grown into a strong, state-level partnership built on shared ambition. By combining Sarawak’s digital leadership with Eartheye Space’s satellite tasking and situational awareness capabilities, we aim to deliver meaningful, real-world impact together.”
As part of the partnership, Eartheye Space will provide its secure, cloud-based satellite data platform, enabling efficient tasking, processing, and analysis of Earth observation imagery. This will allow SAINS and its stakeholders to access timely, ready-to-use insights without the complexity of managing multiple satellite operators. In parallel, both parties will collaborate on capacity and capability building through training programmes, joint workshops, and co-development of automated processing chains and AI/ML models for operational use.
Commenting on the collaboration, Mr. Busiai bin Seman, Chief Executive Officer of SAINS, said that the partnership strengthens SAINS’ ability to leverage satellite data; particularly SAR imagery to support Sarawak’s development and sustainability goals.
This collaboration aligns with Sarawak’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which emphasises the use of digital technology and innovation to drive sustainable and inclusive growth. Through this partnership, Eartheye Space reinforces its commitment to empowering governments and enterprises with scalable Earth observation solutions that translate satellite data into real-world impact for regional development and resilience.
